Samsung SCH-U540 Review

The Samsung SCH-U540 is a CDMA clamshell phone that is light weight and full of high quality features. For those looking for a decent phone with some extras, the Samsung SCH-U540 is a great choice.

The Samsung SCH-U540 is extremely light, weighing less than 3 ounces and sports an internal antenna for those that like to be comfortable when their phone is wedged into their tight jeans. The Samsung SCH-U540 has a high quality display and a rather large keypad making using the phone extremely easy. Besides the normal features you would expect to find on a mid range phone like this, the Samsung SCH-U540 includes a 1+ mega pixel high resolution camera, Bluetooth capability, EVDO high speed data transfer and the ability to store up to 2 GB’s on a memory card. Another great feature includes the location support for both A-GPS and LBS which can come in handy.

The digital 1+ mega pixel camera is extremely high quality and includes the ability to record video. The maximum amount of video you can record only depends upon how much free storage you have (which can be as high as 2 GB’s). The phone’s exterior is quite sturdy and doesn’t feel cheap. With its large keypad, I was able to use the phone very easily, even though I have fat fingers. The phone also includes a speakerphone which was much louder and clearer than other phones I have owned in the past. For those that require great reception, the Samsung SCH-U540 delivers with crystal clear reception that was so quiet; sometimes I thought I wasn’t connected. Battery life is pretty good, however using the multimedia features does significantly reduce the life of the battery rather quickly.

Overall

The Samsung SCH-U540 is a high quality phone for the mid range level. It includes great features and over delivers for the most part. While it has a few cons, it shouldn’t stop you from purchasing the phone.

A 110 block is a punch-down block used to connect wiring for telephone systems, data network wiring, and other low-voltage wiring applications. It improves on the 66 block by supporting higher frequencies and using space more efficiently.
