Lanzarote – Canary Islands
This beautiful island is located to the east of the Canary Islands and is the fourth biggest island in the area. This island is situated along the Atlantic Ocean coast and at the distance of eighty miles from the western side of Africa. The volcanic geography of the island is the highlight for visitors. Tower block construction is not allowed in this part of Spain for safety reasons. The climate of this island is also very pleasant and remains constant during all seasons.
Arrecife, the capital of the island is situated towards the southern coast and this city has a harbor with many restaurants which are famous for their unique and traditional food. You can also visit some castles and a number of shops in the city. Costa Tequise resort is also located to the west of Arrecife and this resort is famous among young couples and those who like windsurfing. Tequise was previously the capital city of the island and has many attractions for tourists.
Puerto del Carmen is the most vibrant resort on the island and is located at a distance of ten kilometers from the capital. This resort was once a fishing port and has a very long sandy beach and esplanade located in front of the beach. There are many restaurants, bars and shops to entertain the visitors here. The Matagorda and Playa de los Pocillos resorts are located near this resort and are among the lovely resorts of the area.
If you travel towards the south of Lanzarote you will enter Playa Blanca which is an old town once famous for fishing but today this is among the most famous vacation resorts in the island, with some very good beaches and amazing vistas which are located near Fuertevebtura Island.
There is a big park in the south of Lanzarote which is called Timanfaya National Park, established during the 18th century after the eruption of 100 volcanoes continuously. You can also visit the El Diablo restaurant which is located at the top of the Timanfaya Mountain and visit the nearest park El Golfo.
In the north of the island there are caves called Los Verdes villa espagne piscine and they are among the must-visit attractions of the island as these caves were formulated almost five thousand years ago from molten lava. The optical illusions at the end of the caves are very interesting to see.
