The beautiful city of Ronda – Spain
‘It is something unbelievable’, as some tourists say Ronda a part of Malaga Province of Spain is peculiarly located on the edge of a canyon which measures about 70 meters in width and about 120 meters deep. In fact many of the tourists say that this city is a ‘Surprising town’. It has some of the most famous bridges and buildings with Moorish design. The Stone bull ring is a most famous structure of this small city.
How to reach the city:
The place can be reached by road carved in the mountain range of Serana de Ronda and it is located at a distance of about 60 kilometers from Marbella. The drive is somewhat treacherous but the tourist will enjoy the incredible beauty of the nature as he climbs up the mountain.
Places of tourist interest:
Bull ring:
As said earlier this is one of the star attractions of Ronda. According to history Jose Martin built this in the year 1784. This is considered as the best example of neo-classical architecture. This place is also called as ‘Corrida Goyesca’ and every year the bull fight takes place here. Of course, due to protests from animal activists it is likely that the bull fight may be banned in the near future.
Puente Nuevo bridge:
This bridge measuring about 100 meters is built on the famous Tajo river. Interestingly the bridge is built out of stones and according to archeological records it was built during 18th century. This splendid bridge is considered as the best example of the masterpiece engineering work. The Roman Bridge and the old bridge are the other two popular bridges worth seeing.
Arab bath:
Although major portion of the Arab bath has been destroyed, the government of Spain has taken great pains to preserve at least a portion of this monumental building. Archeologists say the Arab bath was built in the 13th century. There are separate places for cold and hot water and there is also a structure resembling waterwheel used for supplying water.
The city hall:
The city hall is believed to have been built in 1734 for use by the military. This three story building has beautifully carved arches and enormous space for the military personnel to rest. The places surrounding the building are beautifully decorated.
Apart from these, there are other important places like giant house, arch of Phillip, Church of St.Ceilia location villa piscine espagne etc. For the convenience of tourists many hotels and apartments have been constructed where they can stay comfortably. There are many restaurants serving the traditional food.
