Having Trouble with Your family or Family Members? Family Therapy is what You Need.
Family therapy also known as family psychotherapy is a psychological counseling process for couples, their children and family members. Family therapy is one way to help resolve the problems that your family is facing. Some of the problems which can be addressed and solved through family counseling include things like communication breakdown. Communication is one of the many pillars of any relationship without which the relationships in question cannot stand for a long time without soon coming to a point of extinction. If you do not want to lose your partner or even children and family members to communication breakdown, one tool to use to get back to them is family therapy.
Another issue which family counseling can help you get over is financial problems, especially financial conflicts. Going to see a financial consultant for guidance on finances management at family level may at times be of little help and if this is the case, it is better to see a psychologist. They will counsel both partners on how to manage and solve financial conflicts. Financial conflicts are more common than any other source of conflict especially between couples. At times you may have a spouse who overspends on clothing or a husband who drinks all he has and becomes broke just five days after receiving his pay check. If this is the situation you are living in and you have tried a number of options and they have not worked out for you, family counseling might be the ultimate healer of your hurting. Another wound that you can have erased forever is substance abuse. Substance abuse involves the use of drugs which cause negative effects on a person’s health. A counselor or therapist can help your family members overcome substance abuse through proper counseling. Whether it is your spouse or any of children who is caught in this trap of substance abuse, family therapy (in Denmark that’s called bedste parterapi) will definitely help.
Not forgetting the most common of all problems; marital conflicts (or konflikthåndtering stilarter as we call it in Denmark). If you have fidelity problems with your spouse, you can have that too solved through family counseling. One good thing about family therapy is the ability to solve very complicated problems amicably and privately as compared to suing in court.
Who does the counseling? The counseling is done by a clinical worker, a psychologist or a licensed therapist. Therapists who are qualified are normally graduate and post graduate degree holders who have been vetted and approved by the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT). This process is short term and therefore it does not take a lot of time. It is also not expensive considering that it helps you solve you problems which you could have lived with for the rest of your life or result to stress related illnesses or a family breakup. Remember that the earlier you deal with the causes of your family conflicts, the better for everyone who is involved. You will live to testify how family therapy saved your marriage and greatly improved communication in your family and also helped better your entire life.
