Ray Sayeed
In 2010, Ray Sayeed of Frankfort, Illinois, enrolled at Loyola University Chicago. There, Ray Sayeed studies for a variety of courses in order to earn degrees in medicine and business. Prior to entering Loyola, Ray Sayeed attended Lincoln-Way East High School from 2007-2010 and Morgan Park Academy from 1997-2007.
While a high school student in Frankfort, Ray Sayeed maintained an interest in medicine that led him to pursue a number of volunteer positions in the medical field. From 2008 to 2009, Sayeed assisted in data and information management at Vital Home and Healthcare, Inc., located in nearby Tinley Park, Illinois. In conjunction with Al-Kareem Welfare Society, Ray Sayeed journeyed to remote villages in India in 2008 and 2009, where he helped physicians educate and train families in need, as well as administer free medical screenings. Ray Sayeed also served the health care industry by volunteering his time at St. James Hospital and Health Centers in Olympia Fields, Illinois, from July 2009 to June 2010. After a short break, he re-joined the Volunteer Service program at St. James Hospital, starting February, 2011. There, Ray Sayeed worked in the ER, Women’s Cancer Unit, Patient Transportation, and as Information Desk Greeter. He also performed other general duties as requested by physicians and other hospital personnel. Once again, Sayeed achieved recognition with a letter of recommendation acknowledging his professional attitude and his industrious and dedicated volunteer service. In September 2010, Sayeed took advantage of the opportunity to observe Dr. Zeba Shakir, a highly regarded pediatrician who runs Homewood Pediatric Associates in neighboring Homewood, Illinois. At the start of the New Year, on January 4, 5, and 6, 2011, Ray Sayeed shadowed Dr. Prem Rupani, a renowned family care physician, head of the Sinai Medical Group, Chicago, Illinois.Most recently, Ray Sayeed earned appointment as Senator of the Unified Student Government Association, a coveted position, at Loyola University Chicago.
