Famous Shaved Heads: The Tough and the Sexy
Throughout history, men have shaved their heads for many reasons. For warriors, shaved heads are an obvious advantage – it’s a whole lot easier to grab a ponytail than it is get a grip on a smooth, clean dome. Holy men from every corner of the world and throughout history have shaved their heads to set them apart from the general population. It’s only in relatively modern times that shaved heads were viewed with suspicion – but that’s changing as more and more well-known men adopt shaved heads.
Today, shaved heads stand for tough, rugged and sexy. The men who go for the baldboy look may be covering up a receding hairline or have decided to quit fighting hair loss, but the image they present is one of virility, strength and athletic prowess.
Shaved Heads You Probably Know
Who loves ya, baby?
If you recognize the question, then you’re probably old enough to remember Telly Savalas’ tough-guy Kojak, the police detective whose trademark was his shaved head and his lollipop. You could say a lot of things about Theo Kojak – and Telly – but you had to admit that he was tough, righteous and downright sexy. Savalas did more for shaved heads than anyone since Yul Brynner, and he opened the floodgates for a whole avalanche of sexy bald men to follow him.
What can joining the Bald Boy Nation do for you? Ask Bruce Willis. He started out in the 80s with a full head of hair playing second banana to a supermodel in an overhyped TV comedy about a pair of private eyes. A few years down the road, a balding Bruce Willis had a series of total box office disasters culminating with playing the voice of a wisecracking baby. More than one critic hinted that his career was washing down the drain along with his remaining hair. Late night hosts cracked jokes about his latest bad hairpiece and a few people speculated that he’d had hair transplants.
And then, a miracle. Willis slathered on the shaving cream, slicked off the remaining wisps of hair and reprised his role as Die Hard hero John McClane and became one of the sexiest action heroes to hit the screen in years. It may have taken him a while, but once he embraced his baldness, Willis started to sizzle on the screen again.
Willis isn’t the only tough guy to sport a shaved dome, either. Vin Diesel, Sean Connery, the Rock – tough, sexy, cool and manly – all wear their shaved heads with pride.
If you’re wavering on the brink of shaving off your crowning glory, these tips might give you the push you need to join Baldboy Nation.
