It has been clinically proven that increasing the amount of fish-oil intake helps in burning body fat. Most people find it difficult to stick to a diet plan simply because they are anything but tasty. Seafood is a different thing altogether. They are good to eat, easy to cook, available in wide variety and now are good for health too. So if you are not a vegetarian and not allergic to seafood, there is no reason why you should not give this a try. These also have several nutritional benefits apart from the one stated already.
Low in Carbohydrate
Since they are low in carbohydrates they prevent the accumulation of any fat. But you must take care that the fish is cooked with as little as oil or fat possible. The most popular sea fish which are low in carbohydrates include salmon, lobsters, clams, shrimp etc. If you are not comfortable with seafood, do not torture yourself with a full-fledged sea-food meal. The smell can be intimidating for someone not used to it. So it is best to get used to it bit by bit. Though the smell can be overwhelming in the beginning, but the taste will win over anyone.
Warning:
In order to get the best results it is best to buy a high quality sea fish. They are not only raised in proper condition and are healthy themselves; they are also free from any environmental pollutants, such as mercury. The predatory fishes, like tuna, are more prone to accumulating mercury in their systems over a period of time. For this reason pregnant women are asked to stay away from tuna. If you are unable to procure fresh fish and are using packed ones, then check the expiry date without fail. If you can, try to know the source from where the fishes have been obtained. But the best deal is always to settle for the local fisherman. They provide cheaper and fresher fishes.
Another Warning for Sushi fans:
If you are trying to lose weight, then stay away from sushi. the rice which is an integral part of it contains enough carbohydrate to negate the good effects oif the raw fish. In order to play, try sashimi.
