Lobsters: a Blend of Taste and Health
Planning a party for your friends and relatives can be a very rewarding experience. Everything from the color of the table mats to the desserts needs to be planned ahead. It can be more so if sea food is to be included. The biggest difficulty, however, is faced while planning the dinner menu. Two people hardly like the same food and worse still is that many people are allergic to crabs and other crustaceans. But there should be something on the table for everyone.
A Way Out:
The best idea is to exclude those from the party who are allergic to seafood. But sometimes it is not possible to do so. In that case, they should be warned that the menu includes seafood. Those dishes can be placed on a separate table. If they are on the same table small cardboard tags can be placed in front of them indicating the name of the dish. Moreover, separate serving spoons should be used for separate dishes. This should be done even when not serving seafood. It prevents the taste of one food marring that of the other.
Procuring and Storing Seafood:
Seafood is best when it is fresh. So it is best to go to the local fisherman to get your desired seafood. Those who do not have this facility can go online to shop for them and have them delivered at their doorstep. But there is no guarantee about their freshness. Once procured these items should be properly stored. The best and surest way to preserve their freshness is to wrap them in a moist cloth and keep them in the freezer.
Lobsters: the Main Ingredient of the Menu
The mandatory item for a seafood dinner is lobster. It is the best among the entire seafood item in terms of taste and delicacy. But there are some age-old myths regarding them. According to some, dead lobsters do not taste good. As long as they have been stored properly, dead lobsters taste just as good as live ones. Another common myth is that lobsters with hard shells taste better than the ones with soft shells. Lobsters with hard shell actually taste better as they more mature and are very good for shipping. Another myth is related to the color of the lobsters. Lobsters can come in various colors from brown to orange, but they all turn red the moment they are boiled. Lobsters are considered bad for health. However, researches have shown that they contain lesser saturated fats, cholesterol and calories compared to beef, chicken and pork meat. Also, it contains Omego-3 fatty acids which are very good for the heart.
