Benefit of Sirshasana

Yoga plays important role when it comes to fitness of our body. One asana that is know as king of asana due to its positive effects on our entire body is known as sirshasana which is also called headstand posture. Best feature about this asana is that this asana have both physical and mental benefits derive both from the emphasis on balance and the body inverted position. As while doing headstand it helps in increasing blood circulation to the brain. , which helps in improving brain function and it also increase vitality and confidence in our mind and body.

This asana also give benefit to other part of our body such as endocrine glands, the pituitary, thyroid, parathyroid and pineal glands. On the other hand this asana is very good for the non-alignment of the spine. This asana also help in restoring the position of vital organs by reversing gravity. As by doing this asana blood circulation of scalp increase therefore it helps getting rid of hair drop problem and this asana also improves the quality of sleep. Therefore regular practice of sirshasana helps in increasing memory.

Now let’s understand how to do this asana:-

1. First of all fold both the legs at the knees and be seated on the heels of the feet.
2. Its important that you should keep erects your body, neck, spine and head.
3. Place your palms on your knees.
4. Breathe normally.
5. Interlock your finger and hands and then place them on the soft padding by leaning forward.
6. Keeping your elbow shoulder widths apart, then gently place the back of the head on the inner side of the interlocked fingers.
7. After that slowly lift your knees from the floor and take one or two steps toward the head.
8. Then inhale and simultaneously lift the legs gently. So that they are in vertical position.
9. After that keeping the back straight, relax and breathe deeply from you abdomen.
10. Hold this asana for about 15 seconds.
Therefore time and duration can be increase gradually up-to 3 minutes with regular practice of this asana.

For coming to normal position first bend the knees place one leg on the floor first and then bring other leg down.
