Samsung JetSet-R550 Review
The Samsung JetSet-R550 has a lot going for it. First, there is the simple clamshell design that is so popular with many customers. The overall size of the unit is just right for resting in a lapel pocket or tucking in a side pocket of one?s jeans. Since the R550 has an internal antenna, there are no worries about bending or breaking. The weight of the phone is no more than 3.32 ounces, making the device among the lighter cell phones on the market today.
All the usual features that people have come to expect with Samsung products are found here. The R550 includes features like EVDO data, a great music player, memory card slot for easy upload of music files and stereo Bluetooth to keep the music up and running properly. The phone book allows up to five numbers to be associated with each contact, which is great. Both Picture ID and Ringer ID functions are included, along with a good quality speakerphone feature.
As for talk time, the R550 is slightly better than many units on the market today. Clocking in with three and a half hours of active use, the device does beat out the phones that offer no more than three hours. The standby time is a respectable ten days, which is usual for most phones of this class. However, the clarity of the phone calls themselves, even when using the speakerphone, help to make up for the lack of any great improvements on the talk time.
Overall, the Samsung JetSet-R550 is an excellent option for a wireless device. You can enjoy all the usual functions and still have a phone that is slim and light. If you are thinking about replacing your current phone, this one is worth considering.
Pros
-Relatively small clamshell body design
-GPS included
-Good quality camera
-Multiple numbers allowed with each contact listed in the phone book
Cons
-Talk time is just adequate, nothing all that special
-Phone book capacity is somewhat low, limited to 500
Overall
While some of the basic features are just okay, the Samsung JetSet-R550 is a good phone for the price. The small design will also make it a favorite with people who like to keep things simple but still want to have many functions on their cell phones.
The SIDH (System IDentification for Home System) in your cellular telephone tells the cellular system what cellular carrier your cellular service originates from. This is used in roaming (making cellular calls when in an area not served by your cellular provider).
