PENTAX K20D Mid-Range DSLR Camera
The 14.6 megapixel PENTAX K20D mid-range DSLR camera was released last year of 2008 in the month of January. This DSLR camera is packed with a different great features and a lot of these features are can usually be found in semi professional cameras. The K20D DLSR camera has a lot of possibilities to offer to its potential users and just like the Canon EF 300mm f/4.0 L IS USM lens, this camera can also produce great and detailed photos. Most probably, this is the reason why a lot of people are attracted to this mid-range DSLR camera.
The PENTAX K20D is the successor of the well known K10D and takes over an excellent core specification such as the weather and dustproof body. In addition to that features, it also inherits the decent optical viewfinder, built-in Shake Reduction, several innovative exposure modes, the choice of recording RAW images in either Adobe’s open DNG formats or PENTAX’s own PEF, as well as the abundance of custom options. However, this DSLR camera of course boasts some improvements from its predecessor and one of those improvements is the slightly increased 2.7 inches LCD screen size. Also, it has an advanced 18mm – 55mm kit lens bundled into it. This focal length however has nothing to do compare to the Canon EF 300mm f/4.0 L IS USM lens.
To add to the improvements of the PENTAX K20D, it has an increased maximum sensitivity for up to ISO range of 6400, and additional Live View facilities and an X-Sync port which is perfect for external lighting, and the dramatically increased in the resolution to 14.6 megapixels unlike to the 10.2 megapixel of its predecessor. In the cases of the Canon EF 300mm f/4.0 L IS USM lens in which without the Canon’s Ring USM, it definitely focuses extremely fast, here in the K20D you can also expect the same to its rival. Yes, with the help of its 14.6 megapixel resolution along with the advanced bundled 18mm – 55mm kit lens, taking great photos is really possible.
When it comes to the Canon EF 300mm f/4.0 L IS USM lens, it is one of the two latest lenses produced by the Canon that have a built-in retractable lens hood. Released together with this lens is the Canon EF 400mm f/5.6 L USM lens. Well, the best thing about this lens is that it is partially weather resistant lens the same as to the body of the PENTAX K20D, but with full weather resistant one. Released along with the new sensor are a wide range of image processing options which include the new Custom Function menu that allows its users to fine tune each aspect such as the two separate sharpening scales plus the choice of four noise reduction options.
More importantly, the K20D DLSR camera maintain the advanced exposure and control modes of its predecessor including the Hyper Program mode and the unique Sensitivity Priority option that allows the user to instantly switch into Aperture or Shutter Priority in just a turn of its twin dials.
