Pool Slides
If you are looking a putting in a swimming pool, or looking to enhance the pool you already have installed, you may want to consider adding pool slides. This easy addition to your pool planning can increase the value of your pool while at the same time offering additional entertainment options for your friends and family. In order to select the pool that best meets your needs, you will want to meet with a pool specialist from Allstate Pools & Spas to consider the size of your pool, the type of slide desired, any safety issues and the costs associated with a pool slide.
Pool Size
As you consider adding a pool slide, you will want to be mindful of the size and depth of the pool where you will be installing the slide. There are pool slides to fit every shape and size of pool, but if your pool is quite shallow your choices will be a bit more limited. The biggest thing to discuss with the professional staff at Allstate Pools & Spas is the landing area. You will want to be sure that there is enough room for a safe landing at the bottom of the slide. The area needed will depend on the height of the slide, size of the average user, and the exit speed of the user.
Using Computer Aided Design, the professional staff will be able to show you in 3D the projected look of the slide. Working together you will be able to identify any modifications that would need to be made to your plans or your existing pool to install your pool slides with enough landing room for all users.
Type of Slide
There are dozens of pool slides available to the residential user. You can even modify down water park level slides if you so desire. By learning the basic types of pool slides on the market, you will be better able to plan with your AllState Pools & Spas consultant and make an informed slide selection.
Straight slides: These slides hearken back to the metal slides of childhood playground. A basic up the ladder and down into the pool design.
Twisters: These slides have one or more twists in the slope. Higher speeds are possible, so usually the curve of this slide will have a high outside edge.
Tube slides: These slides are enclosed tubes with water forced through to enhance speed. These are usually a bit longer and may feature one or more twists.
Safety Issues
Pool slides have a few safety issues for you to consider. They can pose a danger to users at the ladder and slide stage as well as at the landing stage. Ladder and slide hazards can be avoided with guardrails and high sides or enclosed slides to prevent falls. They can also be mitigated by choosing a low slide. Landing dangers are typically caused by cramped landing areas or another user coming along behind too quickly.
Costs
Pool slides are not terribly expensive. Like all other pool accessories, the fancier the slide, the more it will cost. A straight slide may be less than $1,000, while custom twisters or tube slides could be several thousand dollars. Discuss your budget and your needs with your Allstate Pools & Spas representative to get an accurate price quote and advice about how to include a pool slide without having to sacrifice other features of your custom pool.
