Resolve ‘Unknown Error 0x8004060C’ in Outlook 2002

Microsoft Outlook 2002 is the older version of Outlook but still it is being used by many users in the world. Outlook stores all its data items in pst file. This file is known as Personal Folder file or Personal Storage Table. Outlook 2002 uses ANSI file format which limits the pst size up to 2GB. When the pst size approaches or gets larger than 2GB, it creates problem. Sometime when you try start Outlook or open any email, it gives you error message like “Task ‘Microsoft exchange server- receiving’ reported error (0x8004060C): Unknown error 0x8004060C”. This is critical error in Outlook 2002.

Typically, the outlook error 0x8004060C appears due to problem in pst file. When pst is oversize or exceed its size limit, it stops responding. Later it may get corrupted due to which you will never be able to access your Outlook. There are also some other factors that causes corruption to the pst file such as virus attack, human error, system failure etc. If pst file is not larger and is unresponsive then you need to repair the file using Scanpst.exe. Microsoft provides inbuilt repair utility with Outlook, known as Inbox Repair Tool. It repairs undersized pst file which is normally corrupted.

If the pst file is corrupted and its size is larger then you need to split pst files. That means, you can can divide the large file into small files. After you split the file, you can easily use any of the divided file with Outlook. In order to split pst files, you need to use PST Splitter software. The software easily splits pst file without loosing any data. It allows you to split the oversized pst file as per your convenient. You can split pst file by date, split file by year/month/day/time etc.

Therefore, if you want to use Outlook 2002 smoothly then you should keep the pst file size smaller enough than 2GB.
