At Detech Inc. Customer Service Is Expanded

You know, most every company talks about their customer service, but at DeTech that is not just a buzzword or a catchy phrase.  It started as a serious concern in the early business planning stages and has become a culture that is deeply rooted in the corporate headquarters and has spread throughout the company.

The owners of DeTech still insist that every phone call is answered by a human, not a machine that will route you into oblivion. Not only that, but they insist that the phone is answered before 3 rings.  WOW…the customer really does still come first with some businesses.

Here is what we found most amazing.  Every customer of DeTech gets free local support and service if there is a dealer within 50 miles.  There is free telephone support for a lifetime, but most amazing is their fire replacement guarantee.  If any customer of DeTech ever has any of their fire alarms damaged in a fire, DeTech Inc. will replace them for free.  All they ask for in return is a copy of the fire report (if there was one), a testimonial of what happened and the damaged alarms returned to them.

When asked why they have such a generous program, DeTech’s VP said, “We have every bit of faith that our products will perform perfectly and so we want to know about it when families use them.  If we offer free replacement, families will call us for replacements and we get to hear great stories like this one.  (Below)  This is one of hundreds, but stories like this are what keep us all working hard.”

Several years ago we decided to invest in a quality fire protection system for our family.  At the time, we really couldn’t afford it, but we had a new baby that slept upstairs and when we learned what fire can do, we decided that we couldn’t afford NOT to have it.  Am I ever glad we made that decision.  Our investment is not measured in dollars anymore…it is measured in lives.

On July 14, I had fallen asleep on the couch.  At 1:30 in the morning, the dog was jumping on me and going crazy.  I awoke to hear the heat detector in dining room and then the smoke detector in the living room started sounding.  The fire started only 15 feet from where I was sleeping and I remember feeling confused when I woke up, but I knew I needed to get out right away and call 911.  I think the lack of oxygen was already getting to me.  If not for the fast response of our alarm system, I am positive I would not be alive today.

Most of the main floor of the house is destroyed, but stuff is stuff and it can all be replaced.  I still have my family, neighbors, pets, and my life…you can never replace a life.  None of my stuff seems to matter at a time like this.

I would tell everyone that they need to get alarms that will really work and work quickly. If I did not get this protection when I did, I would not have had a second chance.  You never think about it and you even think it won’t happen, but it does.  You really can’t afford NOT to have them.

I would also like to say thank you to Scott from Home Safety and to DeTech for replacing my alarms right away and for free.  I hope this never happens again, but if it does I know I don’t have to worry.
