Better days for pind daan can be done all the year. But it is better to perform during auspicious 18 days in pitri paksh mela or 7 days, 5 days, 3 days, or 1 day Amawasya with Krishna paksh in any month. Among these days, the auspicious 18 days shradh or Pitripaksha mela is considered best days for offering oblations to the departed forefathers. This auspicious 18 days come every year in the month of September or October. Thousands and lakhs of people visit Gaya during these days every year.
