Not only is Tokyo a perfect destination for your tour in Japan, but also Osaka has many things to see and do. One of these is the Osaka Castle, now on the site of an old temple and was the largest castle in Japan at the time of its construction. It was later destroyed, rebuilt in the early 1600s, and burned down again in the mid 1660s. The one that stands on the location now was built in 1931 and was restored in the late 1990s. It is now modern and home to a museum. The grounds also include a garden that plays host to breathtaking cherry blossoms during the month of April. Osaka is also home of the Shitennoji Temple, Japan’s oldest temple. This is where Buddhism was introduced to the country and in its golden hall you can see the shrine to Prince Shotoku.
Other places you should visit on your holiday to Japan are the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki where the atomic bombs were demonstrated by the United States, ending World War II. Both cities have peace parks and museums dedicated to the event and those who were lost in those devastating moments.
