A Purse Could Be Worth More Than One Month’s Paycheck
As I went out of the store empty-handed for the third time, I kind of hated myself. What was the matter with me? You like it, you buy it, or you don’t. Simple as that! If only! Sometimes it happens that the thing you really like proves much more than you can take, and then the balance in your heart begins to vacillate, deciding on which side to finally sit.
After a long and dizzy trip, I got home, turned on the air-conditioner, and lounged myself on the sofa, sullen and down, about what? Certainly, when deciding to step out of the store for the last time, I also made up my mind to leave that goddamn purse behind me forever! But as I tried to read , watch TV, play games and sleep, whatever, that gorgeous purse just cropped up in my mind when I least expected it. Come on, I couldn’t let the rest of my day be ruined by a though-gorgeous-doomed-not-to-belong-to-me purse. Anyway, it costs a month’s paycheck and I surely could control myself and suppress some irrational buying impulses. What a purse could really do? It could feed me? House me? Clothe me? Entertain me? Wait! It indeed can entertain me, elevate me, excite me and make me happy. Wasn’t that enough? What was the point in storing up money if I got sulkiness in return? It’s not about vanity, not about materialism. It’s about your innermost outlook on life. It’s not about how much you’d have to part with, not about you’d have to pull your belts tighter. It’s about your way of life! At that minute, I found myself striding out of my room and strutting towards the store which held the prettiest purse I’d ever seen.
Now as I recalled that incident, I’m glad that I didn’t miss that purse. Though it cost me one month’s pay, the satisfaction and happiness it brought me was truly more than a month’s paycheck. Its worth lies in my evaluation and my appreciation and that certainly cannot be measured by mere some bank notes.
