A significant number of wealthy people considering leaving UK for a better quality life overseas

A migration of different sorts for a change! It is expected more than half a million rich British citizens would move to foreign soils in the next two years as the situation worsens in crime, high taxes and collapsing road and rail networks, a survey has revealed today.

Around 19 per cent of those having savings and investments worth more than £250,000 are hoping to start a fresh life overseas which is 17 per cent more than six months ago and 14 per cent a year ago.

About 500,000 in this bracket may leave the UK in the next two years the figures suggested.

The investments in infrastructure like roads, railways and communication networks are the much sought after businesses making the UK attractive to live for wealthy people in the UK with almost 61 percent of them choosing this line.

Other factors which played important role in people considering to migrate from UK, was cutting of regulatory red tape for businesses, lowering taxes and improving services like healthcare, education and the police

Nicholas Boys-Smith, director at Lloyds TSB International Wealth, which carried out the survey, said though the figures are not seeing any large scale departures, it was evident that an important and growing minority were seeing a better quality of life overseas.

Crime and anti-social behavior was another most important reason for people mulling over leaving the UK, chosen by 56 per cent.

The figures do suggest that a minority of wealthy people were not happy with the quality of life in the UK, but a majority of 62% said they were currently happy with the UK as a place to live.

Some 42% of wealthy Britons think the UK offers a worse quality of life than other developed countries, while 41% think life in Britain is generally more stressful than life overseas.
