These contain technologies that work well under some circumstances and not so well in others. Ionization detectors respond more promptly to fires involving high flames, and photoelectric detectors alert home owners more quickly to slower-burning, smoldering fires.
Both electrically driven and battery operated smoke detectors are available. Smoke detectors not hardwired into a home’s electrical system rely exclusively on battery power, requiring regular checking and replacement. A smoke detector with a dead battery saves no lives.
Moreover, the smoke alarm sounds when there is not fire. Steam coming out of the bathrooms often activates the alarm creating the nuisance.
These are also prone to nuisance alarms can occasionally occur from dust and insects. Places like workshops, wood shops or near chalkboards have a lot of dirt and grin that usually activates the smoke alarm.

Installing and maintaining the smoke alarms is a costly affair as the units demand for the timely replacement of the batteries for their effective working. No doubt, the home security systems are a costly arrangement. But it possesses much more value when mental peace and security is concerned.
