Celebrity Baby News and Gossip
What’s in a name?
Most of us enjoy reading about celebrities and their glamorous lifestyles. Thanks to baby websites, 24/7 news, Twitter, Facebook and the like we can also keep up to date with celebrity baby news, with many of the fame-hungry celebs giving us the news first hand on social media sites.
Having a baby is the same whether you are well-known or not, but there is one thing that often sets the celebrities apart from the rest of us, and that is their choice of baby names.
If you read the celebrity baby news you probably think some celebrities spend every pregnant moment dreaming up unusual names for their offspring. Maybe they even hire people to come up with suggestions?
Recently we’ve had creative efforts from Peaches Geldof (Astala) Billie Piper and Laurence Fox (Eugene Pip) and Jessica Alba (Haven Garner Warren).
Beyoncé and Jay-Z didn’t disappoint with Blue Ivy while Donal MacIntyre and Sarah Cawood were like-minded, both calling their sons Hunter.
The world waited with bated breath to see what name David and Victoria would come up with for their baby daughter after their creative efforts for their sons. Harper Seven didn’t disappoint. It’s unusual enough to make headlines, but not so strange that it won’t be copied.
Mariah Carey surprised with her twins’ names of Monroe (girl)and Moroccan Scott (boy).
Not too bad when you compare to Alicia Silverstone’s choice of Bear Blu for her baby daughter or Egypt Daoud for Alicia Keys’ son.
Some names are clearly retro like Ethel (the choice of Lily Allen and Sam Cooper) and Mabel Ray (Bruce Willis’s daughter).
The jury is still out on several others: Xander (January Jones’s son) Covey (Konnie Huq and Charlie Brooker) Luca Cruz (Hilary Duff’s son) and one of Paul Weller’s twins who is stuck with the name Bowie until he’s old enough to change it (David Bowie’s own son changed his name from Zowie to Duncan as soon as he could).
Here, in their full glory, are a few more weird and wonderful baby names that made the celebrity baby news headlines. Some are now adults but their ridiculousness makes them worth mentioning again (especially Frank Zappa’s poor offspring)…
