Iron Fence
Are you thinking about getting one of those black metal fences that look like an iron fence? Chances are you think that type of fence would be just way too expensive. We’re here to explain what this type of fence is made of and what type of cost is really involved in purchasing an iron fence.
At Fence-Depot.com, we sell all types of ornamental fencing products. We sell aluminum fencing and gates, vinyl and aluminum deck railing, aluminum and steel driveway gates and wrought iron or iron fencing. If you weren’t already aware, wrought iron fencing and iron fencing are the same thing. In fact, an iron fence or wrought iron fence is also the same thing as a steel ornamental fence. Now you might be thinking that a wrought iron fence is something that is made back in the 1800’s that was made by hand and is solid metal. While some of that type of material may still exist and you might even be able to get it custom made, that’s not really how companies make this type of fence anymore. The iron fence that is made today is actually tubular steel that is welded for excellent strength. It might not have the strength of that older, antique wrought iron fencing but do you really need that type of fence in your backyard?
Part of the reason this newer iron fencing is made this way is for cost considerations. The cost to have an old style, solid steel iron fence would be very high. Not to mention the fact that it would be very difficult to ship because of the weight. The iron fence you can purchase at Fence-Depot.com is very affordable. Our 4’ high residential grade fence is just over $15 per linear foot for all of the materials needed for installation. The iron fence is sold in 8’ wide sections and they weigh about 45 pounds each. The shipping cost is not as expensive as you might expect. The average shipping cost is just a few hundred dollars.
Installation of an iron fence is very simple. There is no welding required. Each iron fence section is shipped as an 8’ wide piece of fence. The main part of the installation is setting your posts in concrete. Once the posts are set, you would hang the fence sections onto the posts using the brackets and screws provided with the fence.
So if you have been thinking about fencing in your property and always thought an iron fence was out of reach, think again. It’s really not that expensive and not difficult to install. You can have that beautiful wrought iron fenced in yard. Give one of the fence professionals at Fence-Depot.com a call at (800) 760-5170 with any questions regarding our iron fencing.
