The Seychelles are home to a stable democracy. As a foreigner you can easily enter the Seychelles for thirty days with a passport, no visa required, however, if and when you decide to leave you will need to pay a forty dollar departure tax. If you plan on staying you will need to acquire a visa.
The expat Seychelles people do not have an income tax, which is a plus for many people. However, there are many other taxes such as rental income tax on residential properties. If you have a company that is nonresident and does not create income from the Seychelles, you are not required to pay taxes. For companies that are residents or non-residents which have income coming from the island, you are required to pay certain taxes. There are no capital gains taxes.
The medical care found in the Seychelles is described as adequate from the limited amounts of facilities. Most islands do not have any medical facilities upon them. Most people will need to evacuate if they are struck with a severe illness or injury. A lot of scuba diving is done here; however, treatment for decompression sickness is not an option there. If you have a serious medical condition, you may want to reconsider making a move to Seychelles because it is hard to obtain emergency help quickly.
There are many restrictions in the Seychelles for foreigners who would like to purchase real estate. You may be able to buy a home, but you must live there. There are many transfer restrictions that prohibit renting or leasing from the property. Also, you may be forced to use the official exchange rate, which may be extremely high. However, renting or leasing property on the Seychelles is fairly simple and prices are reasonable. Prices depend on the type and location of the property.
