Hyundai Eon to join the list of cars exported from India
Car makers across the globe are attracted towards the magnificence of the world’s second largest auto market. A decade old players like Hyundai have made a deep impact on the small car market of the country, not only the domestic one but also on the global front with the South Korean auto firm becoming the largest exporter of passenger cars from India toppling Maruti Suzuki.
The latest member to add to the export portfolio of the company is the last year launched Hyundai Eon. India’s second largest passenger car manufacturer had earlier exported cars to European markets but the economic downturn there forced the company to look for other potential takers. The new ones being bestowed by Hyundai’s export are African and South Asian markets where the per capita income is showing an increase and these regions perfectly fit in the small car plan of the auto major.
Hyundai Eon has come up a long way in the domestic market as well, the hatchback began its journey with only 6000 units sold in November, 2011, the month it was unleashed. However, now the things have changed and last month Eon emerged as the bestselling car of the company leaving Santro (5,359 units) and Hyundai i10 (10,157 units) way behind.
With good results pouring in, Hyundai is confident to do well in export markets also. Arvind Saxena – Director of Sales and Marketing, Hyundai Motors India stated that the local sales of Eon have been inspiring and company plans to boost its sales in the auto markets of Africa and South Asia. He mentioned that the demand & requirements for small car are almost similar in India and in these countries like it should be cheap, good looking, with host of features and having good fuel economy. The export of Eon will kick off within a month’s time, Arvind added.
Priced at Rs 2.74 lakh (Ex-showroom), Hyundai Eon is the cheapest car of the company available here. Boasting Hyundai’s fluidic concept, Eon is a show stopper and displays the vibrant energy it carries with fabulous lines and cues flowing over its body. Apart from exhilarating exteriors, the hatchback is embraced with jazzy interiors having enough space and an array of features.
Hyundai India is expecting a drop in exports of about 10 % this year due to slowdown in other markets. Presently, company exports Hyundai Santro, Hyundai i10, Hyundai i20 and Hyundai Accent to in all 115 countries worldwide. In these dropping sales in foreign markets, Hyundai Eon is expected to bring some relief for the South Korean automaker.
