The prosecuting attorney in the case has alleged that William Balfour entered the Cook County home of Julia Hudson’s family and shot her mother, who was in the living room, shot her brother Jason, 29, who was asleep, and then drove off in the brother’s SUV with 7-year-old Julian inside. The boy was behind the front seat and was later shot in the head.
According to Julia Hudson, Balfour had threatened her and her family when she told him that she was leaving him and wanted a divorce. She claims that he told her that she would be the last to die if she filed for divorce, that he would kill her family first and then her. Julia had eloped with Balfour soon after he had been released from prison on an attempted murder conviction. The prosecuting attorney in the current murder trial called both Jennifer and Julia Hudson to testify on the first day of the trial.
