Madonna: Need to be a tougher mother
Madonna:
To say that the Material Girl is a 20th-century pop icon would be an understatement. From her illustrious music career to a career to her foray into the publishing industry, PERSUN thinks Madonna has done it all, seen it all and — something tells us — it’s still only the beginning.
“I’m tough, ambitious, and I know exactly what I want. If that makes me a bitch, OK.”- Madonna said.
She is mum to Lourdes, here at the Vanity Fair Oscars party, as well as Rocco, David and Mercy.
Her daughter:
Madonna’s daughter, Lourdes, who is only 15, is the subject of a smoking hot photo — of her lighting up a smoke.
The La Guardia High School student was snapped over the weekend enjoying a cigarette while out with pals in Manhattan.
Wearing a black-and-white dress, Ray-Ban sunglasses, and sporting a nose ring, the Material Girl’s girl appeared to puff like she’d done it before.
The pic of Lourdes taking a drag has spanned the globe, appearing in newspapers as far away as London.
Her parenting skill:
Madonna, the self-proclaimed mother of reinvention says there are a few people who only get to know one version of her personality — her kids. Last night, the superstar, who also happens to be a single mother of four, told Rock Center’s Harry Smith that she’s like any other mom who asks “have you done your homework?” and “why are you wearing that?” And though she’s strident, the singer says honestly, “I think I need to be tougher.”
Since Lourdes was photographed smoking a cigarette recently, there was speculation that she picked the habit up from mom, Madonna confirms, “she didn’t get that from me.” She told Smith that she was not very happy when that photograph surfaced. “I don’t approve of anyone smoking, especially my daughter,” she said.
As for whether it’s hard to be Madonna, she says her life is a “metaphorical fish bowl.” It’s challenging, she says, but she’s survived so far.
