Six Sigma is a very powerful tool to reduce production process variation

The main objective of Six Sigma is to improve quality, reduce production costs, reduce waste costs by reducing process variations to a minimum level. Why the variation process should be minimized? Before we discussed the variation process then we should find out first about the product variations.

Product variation is the difference in the results of each product every cycle though made using the same machine, the same raw materials and the same method. Why product variations may occur. Because of the variation process. Why are there variations in the process because every machine that we use have a tolerance limit. Method that we use can not be guaranteed the right of each cycle. Raw materials we use can not be the same every cycle. That is why the product is never exactly the same every cycle. And never be the same until whenever.

If there is variation of the product so what is the problem? If the products vary, it will cause the resulting product quality is not stable sometimes good and sometimes poor quality. If the poor quality products are sent to customers then the customer will be disappointed. They will complain and ask for replacement. As a result, companies must re-create the same product to replace it. Making it clear that both require the same cost but not paid by the customer. The company will lose time and money and profit .

There are Some customers are keep silent when receiving the poor quality products. They did not complain but they will not buy back for a second time. Other customers who will be angry ask for manufacturers responsibility. Other customers will tell everybody about the ugliness of the goods received. This last type of customer is the most harmful types of manufacturers because they are certainly not going to buy back and invite others to not buy.

You can imagine yourself how many losses that must be paid when we send poor quality goods to the customer. Losses are priceless and losses are invaluable. If this is not taken seriously then the company becomes less competitive and will lose their competitiveness in global markets.
