Renault Twizy – a futuristic car
Renault brings out a car that is absolutely futuristic which is exactly the kind of car you would have seen in a sci-fi hollywood flick or imagine from the future. The Renault Twizy is built on a design that is completely futuristic and it is definitely an eye candy.
The Renault Twizy is a car that could easily be mis-judged as a car because it’s not a car completely though it looks like one since it is something like a cross design between an electric quad bike and a scooter. The layout is like a motorbike with a linear 1+1 seat setup where-in the rear passenger’s legs go on either side of the driver and front seat just like sitting on a bike.
The Twizy is just 1,400mm wide and still manages to be shorter than a Smart, the Twizy measures as wide as a Honda GoldWing motorbike minus the ORVMs.
The Twizy is available in Europe in three trim levels at a starting price of 6690 Pounds is the higher-powered of the two models that Renault is making that delivers 17 horsepower that is actually decent enough when compared to a 150-180cc motorbike.
The Twizy is capable of covering 50 metres of ground from a standstill in 6.5 seconds that can go as fast as 82kph and can cover s distance of 80kms on a single charge and takes only 2.5 hrs to recharge again completely.
To give it a car feel, Renault has incorporated two small glove boxes on the dashboard wherein one glove box can be locked to keep the valuables safe, a small boot that slides out of the rear of the Renault Twizy.
The Twizy is one of a kind in terms of innovation with a great design thats futuristic and caters to people who would prefer a futuristic vehicle that doesn’t tan one’s skin with the roof above them to cover unlike any other motorcycle. The Twizy will not come to India anytime soon but we just hope Renault considers launching the Twizy in India in the years to come.
