Diamond Cocktail Rings- Important Points

Most of People know about diamond and diamond rings. A type of jewelry featuring a diamond is known as Diamond Cocktail Ring. Most of People use diamond rings in special occasions like engagement, anniversary, marriage, Birthday Party etc., because all of us want to make our special occasions memorable.
The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) created a universal rating system in the 1940s to standardize the diamond rating process, and ultimately protect consumers from getting ripped off. Known as “the 4 Cs,” the GIA International Diamond Grading System™ is the jewelry industry standard to objectively evaluate, compare and rate diamonds. If you want to buy a Diamond Cocktail Ring for someone then it is very important that you should know about 4C’s of diamond. There are 4 criteria that determine the value of a diamond, and they are called the 4 ‘C’s of diamond.
Carat
Diamond weight is measured in carats, and every carat is further divided in 100 points. So, a 50 point diamond is 1/2 carat. It is the easiest to measure among the four. Everything remains equal, a heavier diamond carries more value (means more expensive). However, two diamonds with the same weight can different a lot in terms of value because of the other 3 factors. The carat is just the first thing that you look at the diamond.
Color
The rarest diamonds are colorless, that also means they cost the most. On the other end of the spectrum, you have the yellowish but more affordable ones. The color range is divided into 23 grades, ranging from D to Z, or from colorless (best) to light yellow (not good).
Clarity
Diamonds may contain tiny natural marks which are called inclusions. The clarity grade of a diamond depends on three factors of the inclusion: numbers, size and location. Under 10X magnifications, the most valuable diamonds are flawless and have no visible inclusions visible. The lowest grade may have inclusions that are visible by naked eyes.
Cut
The cut of the diamond is not to be mistaken with the shape of the diamond. This is the only factor that has little to do with the nature of the diamond itself but how skillful the master is. A top of the range, perfect cut diamond reflects the most light and has more sparkle compare to other diamonds. It can be identified by the bright small circle in the center of the diamond. If the cut is too deep (and makes the diamond too long), then some light will be lost through the sides and forms a dark spot in the center. On the other hand, if the cut is too shallow, i.e. a relatively ‘flat’ diamond, then the light is lost through the bottom of the diamond and cause a dull grey ring.
