Maruti Cervo launch in India slated for Diwali
India’s largest car maker Maruti Suzuki India is all set to introduce another new car in the low cost car segment in India by spawning Maruti Cervo small car in India. If rumors are to be believed Maruti India is introducing Cervo as the substitute to ageing Maruti 800 hatchback which ruled the A segment for a long time. Maruti Cervo is expected to be launched in India by Diwali this year.
Maruti Cervo price is likely to range between Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 2.0 lakh. Maruti officials also hinted that the processing of Cervo has also been finished and the car is all set to enter the Indian car market.
Speculations are rife that the Maruti Cervo hatchback has a close resemblance to Chevrolet Beat with a little tid bits taken from Honda Jazz. Cervo will be powered with an 800cc mill and will deliver a great fuel economy. Maruti Cervo will give a stiff competition to cars in the entry level segment like Tata Nano and Hyundai Eon. The company has deliberately chosen the festive season of Diwali to launch this new offering from Maruti as this is an auspicious time and people tend to buy new vehicles during this time.Cervo will be extremely frugal delivering a fuel efficiency of around 25kmpl what else anyone want, a car that comes with the reliability of Maruti and tagged at Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 2.00 lakhs and above all offering such high mileage, it is going to be a treat for the customers.
This car could turn fortunes for Maruti Suzuki in India as at this price people would be vying to buy Cervo. Along with this the company is also thinking to launch few other products in India in 2012 which include, Maruti XA Alpha SUV concept, Maruti Rtiz facelift, Maruti WagonR in diesel version and Maruti Alto in diesel version.
Maruti had completely been absent from the MPV and SUV segment until now, in the month of April the company launched Maruti Ertiga compact MPV in India which is garnering good sales. The company also expected to get the same response for XA Alpha SUV which is likely to be priced between Rs 7 lakh to Rs 9 lakh. If the car maker inducts Wangon R in a diesel avatar it is definitely going to take the sales figure of this hatchback to a new level also Alto diesel will get miraculous response from the Indian customers. The hatchback as it is the best seller in its segment and with the induction of diesel mill it is going to become invincible. Ruling the Indian market for over a decade now, Maruti Alto accounts for a huge chunk of Maruti sales in India. Maruti is eyeing to gain 50% of the market share and hence it has planned to launch new cars in India which will help it attain its goal by acquiring 50% of the market share in the Indian car market.
