Yul Whitney has had phenomenal success in his career as an educator. He grew up in a loving family with two parents who gave him a lot of love and support. He learned from the time he was a child what having good moral character meant, and wanted to be a good role model for those that he came into contact with.
Yul Whitney graduated college with honors and received a master’s degree in education administration and guidance counseling. He went on to further his education and received a doctorate, as well. After leaving college, he began working in the Palm Springs school district in the position of program specialist. This was a pretty large and detail oriented position. He had to manage 14 different schools in regards to their special education programs. His position included implementing procedures to make the program run smoothly, conducted staff workshops and training and overseeing the program as a whole.
This man eventually moved on to the Palo Verde school district where he climbed the ranks and became the district superintendent. He then worked as assistant superintendent for a while before taking on the school psychologist position. This position is where his passion lay, because he wanted day to day interaction with the students. He could not get that while being in an administrative position. Overall, he has been with this district for nearly 11 years and does not have any intentions of slowing down anytime soon.
Yul Whitney is against bullying, which according to him is a major issue within our schools today. It is everyone’s responsibility to ensure that students have a worry free atmosphere to go to school in from the students to the parents and school officials. Bullying should be reported immediately so that it can be dealt with promptly. The district has a zero tolerance policy against it and goes by the philosophy of a bully free zone that Whitney implemented. There are even signs posted around the school that say that it is a bully free zone, so no one has an excuse for being a part of such activity. Whitney has strived to make changes for the better and so far he has had great success. He is a respected leader in the area and is recognized for his achievements in making the school a better place to be. Every administrator should have the mindset of Whitney.
