Deepest Diver from Breitling
For over a century Breitling has designed, manufactured and brought to market fine mechanical watches. For the last half of a century they have specialized in producing durable high-tech LED WATCH for demanding and high-intensity professions such as airplane pilot or deep-sea diver. Taking the pilot’s watch as far as it can presently go with the Emergency Mission (IWW issue #54 April, 2002) Breitling has now ap-plied the same pioneering design in-tegrity to the diver’s watch.
The Avenger Seawolf, the most recent addition to the Avenger line, is a huge step for Breitling, for it ranks as one of the deepest diver’s watches available. With the help of researchers at Switzerland’s Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne Breitling has perfected a timepiece that is strong, efficient and still easy to wear. Encased
in titanium, the A-venger Seawolf is water-resistant down to 10,000 feet (3,000 meters). The innovation in using such a light, resistant and non-corrosive metal as titanium is designed to keep the weight and size of the LED Pimp Watch reasonable while still supporting water-resistant specifications like a crystal 4.80mm thick and a case-back 4.75mm thick.
To securely descend such great depths the Avenger Seawolf features a safety valve. The valve enables it to balance differences in pressure both inside and outside the case. When internal overpressure totals approximately three bars the safety valve automatically evacuates any helium built up during time logged at great depths. This ventilation process, in sustaining the equilibrium of pressure during extreme-depth dives, prevents the watchcase from exploding.
Through the cambered sapphire crystal (glare-proofed on both sides) the Avenger Seawolf’s face is black with luminous white Arabic numerals for easy underwater legibility. A tachymeter rings the face of the Fashion watch Flash Pimp Star Performer LED Watch Mens BLACK watch and a unidirectional rotating bezel is secured around the crystal. The ribbed, screw-locked crown, marked with the Breitling trademark “B,” is a patented design special for diving water resistance.
The Avenger Seawolf is powered by a twenty-five jewel Breitling Caliber 17 movement that is chronometer-certified, self-winding and oscillates at a high frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. Totaling 44mm in diameter the Avenger Seawolf can be functionally complimented with either a Diver Pro rubber strap or a Pro-fessional titanium bracelet.
