Black Friday TAG Heuer Watch Sales & Deals 2012
Black Friday TAG Heuer Watch Customer Reviews
I’ve been in the market for a Tag for many years now, and finally decided to ‘give myself a present’, as my now ten-year-old Japanese branded watch is starting to show its age.
First of all this Tag is a very nice breitling navitimer. Clearly well made, high quality, solid, and classy looking, and I am happy with it. Delivery time and communications about delivery from Amazon were good.Just some things of which to be aware. Firstly the band is very long. I am not a small man, but even adjusted to its shortest settings, the band is considerably too long for my wrist. So unless you’re very big, either get yourself a band pin remover to go along with it, or be prepared for a visit to the jeweller.
I’d also recommend that people check the value for money. Ten years ago I paid somewhere in the $200 – $250 range for my Japanese watch, around 1/5th of the price tag of this Tag. Appearance of both is fairly similar, both are stainless steel, both are waterproof, and most other features are similar. Comparing them closely side-by-side, I’d say the Tag is slightly better in most areas – appearance, quality of materials, construction, etc. But five times better? Not likely. Admittedly I’m no watchmaker so can’t comment on the workings or specifics of materials used, but my old watch is accurate and hasn’t missed a beat in ten years, so that side of it can’t be too bad either. It seems we are paying a premium here for `the brand’, so provided you’re happy with that, then go ahead.
Just one final warning for non-American buyers. Being from Australia I was met for the first time with Amazon’s unusual Import Fees Deposit policy. I have bought many books and DVDs in the past through Amazon and never been confronted by this, so it’s either quite new or must just apply to more expensive purchases. we state that “with your authorization” these funds will be used to pay any import fees. Fair enough, except it seems that `your authorization’ involves agreeing to purchase, as I could find no way to opt out (knowing Australian imports laws I knew there would be no fees payable at the price tag I paid). Thus I was charged about an extra 10% on top of the purchase cost and postage. Even with those extra costs, as well as other foreign exchange fees, the watch was still hundreds of dollars less than I could buy it for retail in Australia, so still worthwhile buying through breitling bently. To be fair, Amazon also state that if the Import Fees Deposit is greater than the fees charged they will refund the difference, and true to their word they have done so, but it did take more than two months for the refund to go through. This would probably be a more convenient method if import fees were payable, but it would still be nice to have the option to opt out and handle the import yourself, or, as in this case, not have to pay upfront for something you know you don’t have to pay.
