Whereas shoes started off in humble beginnings they have now become just as important as our clothes as a fashion statement. Initially footwear served a practical purpose when cavemen started to make protectors for their feet in order to keep the cold and damp out keep their feet warm in the harsh weather of colder climates.
Because they were hunters and gatherers they needed to go out whatever the weather conditions were in order to be able to feed themselves and their tribes. In ancient Egypt butchers also wore some kind of footwear to prevent them from having to walk in animal blood.
In the hotter countries and the tropics shoes were rarely worn, apart from in more upper class households. The same went for the Romans where shoes were something of a status symbol.
These days the right kind and style of footwear is really important for some people. In some circles Designer Shoes are de rigueur since everybody has to keep up with the Joneses. For this reason this has become a big market. In order to get a well-known brand of shoe some fashion houses have given outside manufacturers licences to have their name used to promote good and well-made shoes at affordable prices.
These manufacturers benefit from the fashion house’s name because they will be able to sell their products more profitably and at higher prices than they would ordinarily have been able to charge. This does not mean that the shoes produced in this way are any less well made. The name holder would not stand for this as it will lower their reputation.
Of course, with our obsession with today’s music and film stars, when they are wearing something, then the whole world wants to emulate them. This fact has also boosted the coffers of the fashion industry. We only had to look at Kate Middleton’s wedding dress last year and a few days later copies were in the shops for people to buy.
There are some names in fashion shoe world that will only let you purchase from the fashion houses themselves. There is one very famous make which is owned by a Malaysian shoe maker who has made a big name for himself. Many people wore his shoes, including the late Princess Diana.
Malaysia has a big shoe making industry which was really promoted when Imelda Marcos was still first lady of the country. She owned many pairs of shoes which are now housed in a museum in Manilla.
Especially on the internet one will be able to acquire these up market shoes. There are so many designs and styles to choose from and they will all be displayed clearly in the web pages. There are not designer styles in formal wear, but casual shoes like loafers and sandals are also available with famous names attached to them.
They will be much cheaper here than in the up market shops in the high street and postage and package will be free within the country.
