From Norway with Love

It is really difficult to do nothing. This was an observation made by a famous 19th century English writer. People who are slacking in the workplace are called Loafers. Whilst everybody is working hard these people only pretend.

An American author has written a book about these people. It probably stems from the industrial revolution where machines started doing the work of men and women.

How did a slip on shoe get this name? It is probably because they do not take much effort to put them on your feet. There are no laces to tie or buckles to fasten. They do not even have zips or Velcro fastenings. It is as easy as that! However, there is a theory that the Norwegian farmers went cattle loafing and that is why these shoes have that name. The cattle loafing area is a place where the cows gather to await milking. The Norwegian farmers used to wear these shoes when they were milking their cows.

The origin of this type of shoe lies in Norway. When some bright person started producing them in great quantities and shipped them all over Europe, they became very popular. Some American tourists took a shine to them and this footwear founds its way to the States. There a manufacturer started copying them and they were sold in a moccasin style. They copied the design from photographs in their possession.

They became very popular with university students who started customizing them and put pennies in the sleeve. They became known as the penny variety of this design. These shoes are very often tasselled, but there is one design, called the Venetian, that has no adornments at all and is just a plain simple shoe which is comfortable and can be worn with any kind of garment.

These days when fashion is much more relaxed, these shoes can be worn with almost every outfit. They may even be worn to formal occasions. However, they are best worn when teamed up with more casual style outfits.

Originally most shoes were mostly black or brown. In our modern times any colour is available in the marketplace and if one looks on the internet the colour possibilities are endless. To get some idea of what you might want to buy, the internet is ideal for browsing. If a high street shop is the preferred outlet for shopping, then at least one gets an idea of what is available.

Internet shopping has, however, become incredibly easy. When a pair of shoes is found, they can be bought by simply giving your credit card details. The shoes will be despatched to you immediately upon the clearing of the card details. If the purchase does not meet the approval when received by the recipient, they can be returned for a full refund, provided they are in the same condition as when they arrived.

Postage and package are free as long as you live in the same country from where the shoes are being sent. If you live abroad there will be a small charge.
