Any Way of Removing Password in Windows 7?
Q: Hi, is there any other way of removing a password in Windows 7 other than using an independent software?
A: Do you mean if you know the password and don’t want to use one, or if you forgot Windows 7 password?
Here are the directions for both.
If you know the password, but don’t want to have to enter it when you log in you can easily remove it:
Click on the Start button, then control panel. Now click on Add/Remove User Accounts, and then click on the account name you want to remove the password from. Click Remove the password, type in the password and click Remove password.
Next time you log in when you click on that user it will log you right in.
If you do not know the password, you will need a utility to manually reset Windows 7 password:
One of the most popular utilities is Windows Password Recovery which can be downloaded here and burned to a CD/DVD/USB. There are detailed instructions on how to use this program.
This should only be used as a last resort if you’ve totally forgotten your password and are locked out of Windows.
Burn a password reset disk:
- 1. Insert a blank CD/DVD into the computer, and then launch the program.
- 2. Click Burn a Bootable CD/DVD.
- 3. Select the target CD/DVD device and click Burn to start burning.
- 4. Click OK when the burning task completes. You have just successfully created a password reset CD/DVD.
Boot computer from the CD/DVD:
- 1. Insert the password reset CD/DVD into the locked computer.
- 2. Turn on or restart the locked computer, watch the screen for a message that will say “press to …enter SETUP” or something similar. Press this key as soon as you see the message to enter BIOS menu.
Note: The key is different based on manufacturers, but F2, Delete and F10 are the most common keys.
- 3. Use arrow key to choose Boot on the taskbar, select Boot Device Priority and press Enter.
- 4. Set CDROM to the 1st Boot Device according to the prompts on the right.
- 5. Press F10 to save and exit BIOS. You computer will restart and boot from the CD/DVD automatically.
When the computer successfully boots from the password reset CD/DVD, you’ll see Rekesoft Windows Password Recovery’s interface. And you’ll find that all Windows accounts are displayed. You can selest your target account, and reset the password to blank. Then you can reset another account password or click Reboot to restart the computer.
