Get Your Windows in the Festive Spirit
When it’s Xmas, people have the urge to pretty up themselves and their homes for the festive season and prepare it all for the lovely moments ahead. Most people would decorate the house, the front door, the lounge room and the windows of course, how would Santa know which house to come to otherwise.
There are some great festive window decorations. For example, vintage linens, some of those could prove to be too gentle and sensitive for their intended job but they can make an excellent window decoration for the season, aprons or baking mittens can be hung on the windows. Make your own snowflakes from old table cloths you no longer need, cut out flakes in all shapes and sizes and stick them on the window – the kids are bound to love those.
If you’re rummaging through the closet to look for fabrics and garments, chances are you may come across something you might actually want to keep like a vintage suede tablecloth or velvet set of tea towels from your granny. Sitting in a closet may have taken its toll on such items and materials so if you want to wash them the conventional way stop right there. It is strongly advised to use professional suede cleaning and velvet dry cleaning service as regular wet cleaning may ruin the fabric for good, especially older garments.
Obviously Christmas won’t be Christmas without the wreaths. Three of four wreaths hung across your set of French windows or doors can be an attractive Xmas visual for occupants and passers by. Windows can also be decorated with Christmas tree glass balls in all sorts of colours and sizes. Ribbons are always original and in style, they’re easy to work with and can be hung or spread almost anywhere, red and gold ribbons will definitely highlight the festive spirit. Don’t forget to make good use of evergreens, they will scent the house and remind you it’s Xmas time with every breath, they can be used to make wreaths with chimes and ribbons. Nothing says it Xmas like a mantel piece made of fragrant evergreens.
