Hone Your Skills – The Road To Success In MLM
Many things may come to mind when someone tells you to “hone your skills.” For those of us in MLM that equates to grass roots business. There are only a handful of fundamental skills required to build a huge downline. 95% of would-be entrepreneurs start their careers in mlm without these skills. Then their sponsor launches them head first into this industry without having learned the basics.
It would be analogous to taking someone who’s never played basketball before and trying to first teach him how to do a behind the back pass, dribble between the legs, and then go fora 360-dunk on his first dayof practice. This is setting your new guy up for failure. He needs to learn how to dribble, pass, and shoot. These are the basic fundamentals of basketball. There is no change when building a network marketing organization. You need to conquer the basic skills prior toattempting any complex prospecting strategy, creating websites, etc.
There are only a few skills you must master in order to succeed in network markteting. The principal thing you mustlearn is how to effectively prospect others. There are several different ways to do this. The simple formula that Iuse is F.O.R.M.
F – Family. Is he or she married?, etc.
O = Occupation. Does their career meet their financial goals? Get details.
R – Recreation. Do they like to travel?
M – Message. This is where you give them your offer.
The whole point of using FORM in a conversation is to find commonality between you and the prospect. You start to build trust with him.
You must also get information on prospecting. Look to your mentor in your primary business. Also check out Amazon for books on prospecting – there are tons of them.
an alternative method to hone your skills is completing the sale. You may be a traffic genius who can generate thousands of leads online, but without closing skills your business is dead in the water. This means you will have done a ton of work building a list with no results to show for it. Today, many in our industry spent a lot of time and money on generating leads online yet they don’t ask for the sale. They may have huge subscriber bases. It’s worthless without having closing skills. Continually improve your sales skills.
The next way to hone your skills is mental. It’s an understanding of human psychology. You must learn how people think. You need to figure out what motivates people to take action. Read books similar to “How To Win Friends And Influence People” by Dale Carnegie and others like it to improve in this area. Another method to gain this knowledge is by just getting out in the market and talking to people. You see when you’re prospecting and selling consistently you’ll start gain this understanding.
