Why Quality Backlinks Are So Important For Your SEO Rankings

If you are familiar with search engine marketing, article marketing, or just SEO marketing in general, it’s very likely that you have heard of the term ‘backlinks’ or “back links”, and what makes them so important in the quest to make your website rank higher in the search engine directories.

For those of you who don’t have a clue as to what back links are all about, and why they are so important, here’s a quick overview of exactly what quality backlinks will do for you.

When it comes to the major search engines, the number of backlinks, combined with the overall quality of the backlinks will ultimately determine your positioning within the search engines.

Backlinks are simply external web links featured on another companys’ website, that direct key targeted traffic to your main money webpage. These are called ‘Inbound Links’. They are similar to a map leading back to your site.

Backlinks are extremely important in any marketing campaign because major search engines like Google and Yahoo place significant weight on websites that have a good number of quality back links. Some of the smaller search engines don’t rely so much on backlinks and use other methods to determine where your site will rank.

If you are looking to rank for specific keywords within the search engines, especially Google, you can simply apply what we, in the industry call “anchor text” along with every back link generated to your site. The actual anchor text is when you define a link using keywords, rather than just using your website’s title or URL address with every link, such as the phrase that we use for our advertisements, “Free Quality Backlinks.” For this site, our phrase along with a banner and url address to our site, would look something like this:

“Free Quality Backlinks-Submit Yours Today” or “Submit Quality Backlinks”. This phrase, when clicked, or read by the search engines, would then be associated with our web address and Google and other search engines see this as a roadmap to our site and put a ranking on each backlink. The more relevant each backlink is, the more power Google assigns to it. A backlink to your site, from another similar site is called relevant backlink, and is worth more in the ranking numbers than a backlink to out site, coming from an article writing site. See how it works? relevancy is the word to remember when looking for sites to get quality backlinks from.

One of the easiest ways to go about getting massive amounts of backlinks is to hand submit to as many Free Backlink Directories, forum postings, leaving comments on blogs, writing articles and publishing on article sites, all while leaving a trail back to your own site, wherever you go. Think of it as leaving breadcrumbs as you walk in the woods.

On most free backlink sites, You can elect to hand submit your links to backlink directories on one day, and then use the paid version of backlink marketing services on the next day, and pay a small fee to have someone submit to hundreds or thousands of places for you. This process works very well for many sites and cuts down on the actual time on the computer. Someone looking to promote their site by hand and get good results can expect to spend a week typing and submitting, but also by paying a submit service to submit your link to 300-500 directories for you, this will get you started. If you have the time in the beginning, try to submit you link to several sites, every single day for a while and you will see your site move slowly up the Google ladder until you someday reach Googles’ Page One.

Once you achieve your rankings in Google, it does not mean that you can stop getting backlinks and remain in that position. You must change the content or add new content to your site and continue to get quality free backlinks forever.
