Digital Printers and Digital Printing Technology
Digital printing is one of the modern printing techniques that have been invented and bettered in the last few decades. Digital printing involves the printing of a digital print of an image on a media such as a paper or cloth. The digital printing has taken a considerable share of the alternative methods of printing such as the offset and traditional laser printing owing to the great quality of print that it provides. The most common example of a digital print is the printing done at homes of offices through the inkjet printers.
The greatest application of digital printing is found in the sticker and graphics or posters printing industry. Digital printing provides excellent customization options which lend flexibility to the printing of the complicated designs and sizes of the stickers and posters.
Digital printers print the stickers on vinyl while the posters have a number of media to be printed upon. The digital printers are also widely used for printing banners and advertisement materials which can be printed on a number of mediums.
Digital printing offers such a wide array of options that it can also be used to better the looks of the windows of cars, decals and vehicle wraps.
The digital printers use a very quick and simple process to do the digital printing. It has already been mentioned that digital printing uses the image for printing the final matter; digital printing requires an external or inbuilt computer to carry out the printing process. The computer transfers the image into the printer in a format that the printer can understand.
The image in the computer can be saved in a number of formats, but for the printer to be able to print, it is important that it is converted into a digital format. This process also involves digitization that makes sure that the printed image is accurate, clear and sharp and does not miss any part of the actual image.
The image is made up of a matrix of dots known as the pixels. The digitized image is used by the printer to control the deposition of ink, exposure of the toner to the electromagnetic energy like light to reproduce the image.
The process of digital printing ensures that the quality of print is of the highest order and that it can be applied to a number of media such as cups, t shirts, cars etc. The secret of this feature of the digital printing process is that the analog distortion of images is prevented in the digital technique and the procedure of holding the substrate requires less harsh pressing as compared to the other printing methods which makes it suitable for everything right from the thinnest silk cloth to the delicate ceramics and glass.
The color clarity of printing is another great feature of the digital printing and this is achieved through the four color scheme using cyan, magenta, yellow and black inks which combine to form over 100 thousand different color shades for multi colored and crisp reproduction of images.
