Are You Ready to Add New Ultrasound Equipment to Your Current Inventory?

As the administrator for a small inner city hospital, one of your jobs is to procure the equipment your medical staff asks for. This is no easy task as the list of equipment not only never seems to get any shorter, but nearly every item on the list is very expensive and you are stuck with a very limited budget. This means that when it comes to bigger items like the ultrasound unit that your OB unit is clamoring for may have to supplant several other items or someone is going to have to do without until the next budget is put together.

This does not sound like a very rosy picture as each department is thoroughly convinced that they are the only ones who should get the lion’s share of the money available in this year’s budget. While you obviously cannot please everyone, if you are a savvy shopper, you may find that you can please several of your departments at the same time.  The trick is to know what you are looking for and how to get the very best deal possible on it.

For instance, your OB department keeps telling you that they need more than one ultrasound unit, even more so since radiology keeps stealing the one they do have. Every year after looking at the price for a brand new GE ultrasound unit, you cringe and have to tell the head of the department they are going to have to wait yet another year.  This is not something you look forward to or want to have to do; it is simply a matter of logistics as you can often meet the needs of several other departments for the same price.

If the only thing you have been looking at is brand new equipment, you are doing your entire OB department and your hospital in general a huge disservice. In as much as there is nothing like being the owner of a brand new piece of equipment, it is also a very unnecessary expense and one that can be easily avoided.  The best way for you to be able to purchase the ultrasound unit that is needed and do so at a price that is not going to send your budget into conniptions is to look seriously into used and refurbished equipment.

Keep in mind that this does not mean you can pick up your local newspaper and expect to find this kind of used equipment in the classifieds. It also does not mean that you should go looking at the used equipment for sale at other hospitals expecting to get good equipment at bargain prices. When it comes to shopping at other hospitals who are offering this type of equipment at bargain prices, you are going to find that more often than not, you are going to get what you are paying for. In other words, you are more likely to get junk than you are a good quality working ultrasound unit.

This does not mean that you cannot buy good quality used equipment; it means you have to be very careful where you go shopping. At KPI Ultrasound we specialize in selling used and fully refurbished ultrasound equipment.  You will find that every piece of equipment we take in is subjected to a complete inspection by a certified technician. Those that are found to be in good working order are cleaned and prepared for sale as used models. These are our lowest priced units and are perfect for those on a very limited budget.

If this is not quite what you had in mind, we also carry a selection of fully refurbished models. These have not only been fully inspected and cleaned, but have also been tested and anything that is worn out, broken or missing replaced. They are then retested and certified as refurbished models in like new condition. The only thing that marks them as any different from new is likely to be signs of wear and minor cosmetic damage, other than this these ultrasound machines will function as if they were brand new out of the box.

Whether you are in the market for a single ultrasound machine or need several of them to reequip your medical facility, KPI Ultrasound has one of the largest selections of fully refurbished units available. All of our equipment is available in used or fully restored to like new condition and is priced to meet your budgetary needs.
