Father’s Day views from AU Pair care host father
With Father’s Day coming up, it seemed that it was time to have some male perspective on hosting an au pair from Au Paire Care. That’s why I Jason to tell share in his own words about his experience hosting our first au pair.
“When the reality set in that we were actually getting an au pair from Au Paire Care I was a little nervous and unsure what to expect. Would we have to entertain her all the time? What if the kids didn’t like her? Most importantly, am I going to feel like a stranger in my own house because there is a stranger in my house? When I am home I like to be able to relax. With the reality that another adult female was going to be here, I felt like I would have to be on my best behaviour all of the time. There is a level of relaxation that everyone enjoys when they are in their own home that I did not want to give up. I always wanted a comfortable environment at my home so that my family don’t get stressed and I am happy that we could maintain it.
Thankfully, when Mia joined our family there was a very brief transition time of getting to know each other, and it never seemed awkward or uncomfortable. Having her here with our family has actually allowed me to relax more. I am able to have a little bit of time when I get home from work when Mia is still on the clock to unwind a little and play with the kids or finish up some of those little projects that seem to go unfinished on the weekend. When it is time for Mia to end the day, I tag in and take over and she transitions smoothly and does her own thing. She is not a guest I have to entertain, but a family member – if I am making dinner, she offers up help with setting the table or making a salad. Mia has fit into our family so well and I certainly don’t feel like a stranger in my home. Because of her, we are able to enjoy more of the one thing we have been lacking; time and are really thankful to her”
Thus for most of family’s AU pair from Au Paire Care bring joy and gives them freedom to pursue their tasks without having the tension to look over their kids.
