life and study skills as well.”
The camp is designed to be a college prep program for these elite athletes, including SAT preparation, library research skills, and writing. Additional
skills such as teamwork, leadership, self-esteem and nutrition will also be a part of the daily activities.
“These opportunities have long been available for young male players,” said Sue Levin, NIKE Women’s Sports Marketing Manager. “This is an important first for
girls.”
Knight also participated in a private meeting of industry executives with President Clinton, Vice President Gore, Secretary Reich and U.S. Secretary of
Commerce Mickey Kantor, to discuss the issue and steps companies are already taking.
Knight also stated, “Let’s be clear on our objective. We are not here to rewrite economic history. For U.S. companies to remain competitive and to continue
