Cayman Islands top international destination chart
Demand for land investments in the Cayman Islands will continue to grow after news that the Islands are now the joint top international destination for American tourists, along with Italy, reveals Crown World (http://www.crownworld.com/).
The newly published American Express Spending & Saving Tracker survey found that 37 million US travellers are choosing to spend their summer holidays outside of the States, a figure which has been increasing in recent years, with 7% of those 37 million planning to holiday in the Cayman Islands. This surge in US tourist numbers will boost Cayman’s tourism market and wider economy, while helping to shore up the value of land investments on the Islands. Holiday destinations around the world strive to attract US visitors given their generous spending habits. The survey found that US holidaymakers expect to spend an average of $1,180 per person while abroad on holiday.
Around 1,500 American adults within an affluent demographic (defined by the research to have a minimum annual household income of $100,000) were randomly chosen to take part in the online survey which explores the spending and saving habits of averagely wealthy Americans.
The findings make for interesting reading for those in the Cayman tourism and hospitality industries, allowing them to maximise the opportunities that so many spending US tourists potentially pose. For instance, 56% of the travellers plan to book their Cayman trip online and once on the Islands, 83% want to stay connected to the internet, while 65% are not willing to pay for the privilege.
David Patron, Vice President of American Express Travel was quoted as saying, “Consumers want deeper, richer experiences when they travel. When a traveller visits a destination they want to understand the local traditions and feel like they are getting a true insider experience.” The Cayman Islands have no shortage of local traditions, not to mention awe-inspiring natural beauty (and excellent internet access!).
