Mandarmani Hotels – New hotels coming up
Mandarmani, a recently developed beach in West Bengal, is a quiet, serene and pristine beach resort. The beach resort, which lies nearby to the popular beaches of Digha and Shankarpur, is slowly becoming popular among travellers. Mandarmani’s advantage is that it has a 13 km-long beach which is motorable. Mandarmani thus claims to have the longest motorable beach road in India.
It is a quiet beach and the main thing the tourists can do is to relax, enjoy a walk on the seashore and swim in the sea. The shoreline is lined up by trees. Since it is a quiet beach, visitors are unlikely to be disturbed. The foreign travellers are rarely seen.
Besides swimming and walk on the seashore, the travellers can engage in activities like a ride on ATV Bikes on the beach, ride Jet Ski to surf the sea, ride on sea with several people sitting on a banana-shaped boat and bumpy rides on waves. A major attraction in Mandarmani is Mohona Delta, situated at 6 km from the main beach.
Since there is no electricity in the beaches, it is difficult for the tourists to walk in the beach after sunset. Moreover, as the evening progresses, there may be high tides. It is advisable that travellers carry sunscreen lotion while on the beaches. This may help minimise the risks of excessive tanning. Since no medical shop may be seen during emergency, the tourists are advised to carry essential medicines with them.
The nearest airport is at Kolkata which is 180 km from the beach resort. The trip by road takes nearly four hours to reach Mandarmani from Kolkata. The road was not motorable earlier for the last six-kilometre stretch to Mandarmani. Now a new all-weather narrow road has been laid. The closest railway station is at Digha. The temperature ranges from 10 degree centigrade to 36 degree centigrade. The best time to visit the seashore town is during the winter and monsoon.
Many resorts and hotels are spread along the 6 km-stretch of the beach. Many new hotels are coming up in the beach resort. The standard rent for double-bed rooms varies from Rs.1500 in budget hotels to above Rs.4000 in high-end hotels. Among the high-end Mandarmani hotels are Rose Valley and The Sana Beach. They provide modern amenities like a/c rooms, room service, internet, party hall, in-house restaurant, hot/cold water, car parking and back-up power supply.
The mid-range Mandarmani hotels include Debraj Beach Resort, Hotel Dream Land, Ganapat Palace, Hotel Shinjini, Neel Nirjaney, Dream Hut Resort and Sonar Bangla. Hotel Panthatirtha, Samudra Bilas, Samudra Sakshi Resort, Shorelene and Tarangamala Guest House are among the budget hotels. Most of the Mandarmani hotels provide A/C room and other modern amenities.
