Lakshadweep – Land of thousand Islands
Lakshadweep is a group of islands located in the south west part of India. The islands was known as Laccadive, Minicoy, and Amindivi Islands. Together the islands were referred as Laccadive Islands located in the Laccadive Sea. The total land area is 32 square kilometers. After the rule of Ali Rajahs these islands were dominated by Portuguese. In 1787 the islands was ruled by the great king Tipu Sultan and then eventually it passed to British India. These islands are well mentioned in treatise of Ibn Batuta, an eminent Arab traveller.
