AMC is known for using different types of transmissions in their vehicles. But they are categorized broadly into two types: Manuals and Automatics. Let us look at each one of them in detail. The most common Automatic transmissions found in AMC engines are the Borg-Warner M11 and M12 and the Torquef Flite 727 and 904’s. The Torque Flites have been known to find in the newer models, whereas the Borg Warners were found in the earlier ones. The Torques were replaced by the Chyrsler due to its superior performance, in the models 383 Superbees and 426 Hemis. On the other hand, manual transmissions are installed is the one and only Borg-Warner T10. This model was used from the late 60s to early 70s. With the 70s came the evolved versions that included 3 and 4 speed (spd) gearboxes which didnt match upto the ultimate T10 which came out in the last 60s.
