Uttrakhand The Land Of God Is The Scared Hindu Holy Place
Uttaranchal is a perfect land of holyday destinations. Yamunotri Shrine
Yamunotri one of the four scared Hindu places is located at an altitude of 3, 293 meters above the sea level in the Garhwal Himalayas 30 kms north of Uttrakhand. The chief attraction at Yamunotri is the temple devoted OF Goddess Yamuna located on the left bank of Yamuna River. This temple was constructed by Maharaja Pratap Shah of Tehri Garhwal. Adjacent to the temple is a hot water spring flowing from mountain cavities. Lodging facilities are scanty. There are only a handful of ashrams and guest houses.
Gangotri Shrine
This famous pilgrimage site is located on the bank of Bhagirathi in Uttarkashi district at an altitude of 3, 100 meters above the sea level. It is the main source of the River Ganges and seat of the goddess Ganga, is one of the four holy sites of Hindus. Devotees come here to take a dip in the icy cold water of Ganga River. There are number of hotels in Gangotri well equipped with all modern facilities. Due to pack hours all the hotels remains booked beforehand. So in order to avoid such situation you must book your hotel beforehand.
Badrinath Shrine
Badrinath is a renowned holy place of the Hindus situated in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. This important holy place is devoted to Lord Vishnu is situated at an altitude of 3,415 meters above sea level. The temple is situated on the bank of Alaknanda River in the Garhwal Hills. This temple was rebuilt by Adu Shankaracharya in 9th century. Around lakhs of pilgrims comes each year from far flung areas. The best time to visit here is during the months of June to September, for rest of the years it remains blocked due to heavy snowfall in the winter season.

Kedarnath Shrine
Kedarnath is another important holy site tucked in Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand, in the lap of Himalayas. It is one of the remotest shrines located at an altitude of 3,584 meters above sea level near to Mandakini River. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The best time to go is April end and closes in October. And rest of the year it remains closed due to heavy Himalayan ranges.
