Maruti Alto 800 coming this Diwali
Good news for Maruti car lovers, a new version of Maruti Alto is in the making, the company has been developing the replacement of their iconic car Maruti 800 and Maruti Alto hatchback. The company had earlier announced that Maruti 800 will be a redundant model but then they thought of pumping some fresh blood to the hatchback and bring it in a new avatar. The new version of the hatchback has been developed in India unlike its antecedent which was developed in Japan. The old model had been an extremely popular model in India; the company hopes to get the same response for the next gen Maruti 800 also.
Launch will happen by the end of this year, Maruti had been testing this new version for quite some time now, though vehicle has not been spotted undergoing test run that often. The hatchback will be named Maruti Alto 800. Maruti 800 and Maruti Alto generated volumes for the auto maker in India, these were tagged as the most affordable cars of their era. With new options coming in it was high time to give a facelift to these two cars, however Maruti has amalgamated the good things of both the cars and made a cocktail out of these two hatchbacks.
The new Alto 800 has a new front end sporting a small grille and slightly laid back head lights. The lower grille is hexagonal in shape, this could prove to be the company’s new design which is might bestow on other upcoming cars just like Ford and Hyundai did with their cars. The front fascia has similarity with the Ford Figo hatchback with a chrome strip and the obvious planks on the hood. The side looks of the hatchback have a striking similarity to Maruti A-Star hatch which is another popular hatchback from Maruti’s clan. However, the glass-in area and DLO more commonly known as the light inside cabin due to the glass areas are a tad more refined as compared to Maruti A-Star hatchback. This renders a less sporty look to the new Maruti Alto 800.
The company is working towards giving the hatchback a suave look so that it strikes a chord with the customers in terms of looks. The base version will not get the left hand mirror which hints that MSI is eyeing to place it as a low priced car juts like Maruti 800 and Maruti Alto. Interiors have been revamped completely which also includes an instrumental panel. A vehicle information system is likely to be placed at the centre console of the dashboard. The base model could come with headrests unified in the front seats. The car has an enhanced height which gives improved headroom to the passengers which lacks in the current version of both the hatchbacks. Under the hood would be the same 800cc engine, however to comply with the future emission norms Maruti Suzuki India will tweak the engine which will improve the fuel efficiency along with bettering the performance of the car.
Maruti Alto 800 launch in India could be slated during the time of Diwali which will definitely give a push to the company’s sales as customers tend to buy new cars during this auspicious occasion. No details have been leaked about Maruti Alto 800 price in India. Also no other details have been revealed regarding the launch of diesel version, still there is a long time to go for the launch, we hope that in coming time the car maker will reveal more information about the hatchback.
