Open source adoption in the public sector has been a topic of debate and discussion in the US for quite some time, but for the first time both US and Europe are facing new frontiers with the benefits of open source licensing and communities. Finally gaining traction in the UK, next week is the industry’s first Open Gov Summit taking place in London where our very own John Powell has been a vital part in leading the open source charge along with partner Zaizi. In order to make IT sustainable in the public sector, the event will be used as a catalyst to fundamentally rethink how the open source community creates value.
