Use LED Light Bulbs and Save Money
LED Bulbs are bulbs that use the LED or Light Emitting Diodes as a source of light. LED Bulbs are increasing in popularity as an alternative to other high power consuming lighting fixtures due to various reasons such as longer life span, efficient power use, cheaper maintenance, and so on. While the initial cost of such a bulb is higher comparative to other lighting fixtures, the savings in the long run is huge.
Conserving Energy Using LED Light Bulbs
The LED Light Bulbs conserve huge amounts of precious energy. The LED method of producing energy is far more efficient than its alternatives such as vacuum/filament method used in incandescent bulbs. In comparison to the vacuum/filament method, the LED method is close to 85 percent more efficient while it is around 5 percent more efficient than the plasma tube method used in the CFLs. What this means is that LED circuits convert around 85% of the electrical energy to light energy. Only roughly 15% is lost as heat energy. In a stark contrast an incandescent bulb converts only roughly 20% of electrical energy as light energy and the balance 80% is lost as heat energy.
LED Light Bulbs are used in general as well as special lighting purposes. Where there is a requirement for colored lights, these can be used as they naturally emit many colors. There is no requirement for additional filters as in the case of other alternates wherein the white light source generates all the colors and later discards the non essential ones in the filter. This property improves the energy efficiency of the LED bulbs and prevents unnecessary generation and wastage of energy.
Saving Money Using LED Bulb
The current life of white bulbs is around 1,00,000 hours which translated amounts to 11 years of nonstop usage or 22 years of usage at 50% running. This is in huge contrast to the average life of an incandescent bulb that is around 5000 hours. The absence of frequent changing is a huge saving for LED Bulb users.
The efficient method of generating light also brings down the power consumption and causes huge savings in the electricity bills.
Environment Friendly
LED Bulbs are very environment friendly in comparison to other lighting fixtures. On an average a single 60 watt incandescent bulb consumes around 525 kWh of electricity in a year while an LED bulb consumes roughly 65 kWh for the same duration. The annual CO2 emission saved from a single LED bulb in itself runs into hundreds of pounds.
With huge amounts of research and development being done in this field, it is believed that LED lighting would soon replace every type of lighting fixture in use currently.
